Position Overview

The Client, Office of Design & Policy Support, is seeking an experienced CADD Support Consultant to provide technical support, software implementation, workspace development, documentation, and user assistance for GDOT's Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) environment.


The consultant will primarily support Bentley OpenRoads Designer and Bentley OpenBridge Modeler, while also providing support for legacy CADD environments including Bentley InRoads, MicroStation SS2, CAiCE, and Bentley MicroStation.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting CADD applications, developing and testing CADD software/workspaces, documenting business processes, troubleshooting user issues, and developing CADD best practices. Experience in transportation engineering and/or public-sector environments is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to CADD users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CADD-related issues submitted through the ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Install and configure CADD software for users as required.
  • Assist external users with CADD workspace installation and configuration.
  • Support the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of CADD software and workspaces.
  • Maintain GDOT Engineering Software standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Determine effective ways to utilize Bentley software to meet engineering design and plan-preparation requirements.
  • Develop and document CADD best practices, workflows, procedures, and how-to guides.
  • Document and revise existing and new business processes to support new or revised CADD software requirements.
  • Develop and conduct CADD software and workspace training sessions for Department personnel.
  • Assist with the development of training materials and user documentation.
  • Research new and emerging CADD technologies and evaluate their potential application within GDOT.
  • Make recommendations regarding CADD software, technology, workflows, and implementation strategies to Department personnel and management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical, and business teams to identify CADD-related requirements and solutions.
  • Provide support for both current and legacy CADD environments as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience documenting and revising existing and new business processes to accommodate new or revised CADD software requirements.
  • 2–4 years of experience supporting the development, testing, and implementation of CADD software and workspaces.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience working with CADD software, including one or more of the following:
    • Bentley OpenRoads Designer
    • Bentley OpenBridge Modeler
    • Bentley InRoads
    • Bentley MicroStation
    • MicroStation SS2
    • CAiCE
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, workflows, procedures, or best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in public-sector and/or transportation environments.
  • Transportation engineering or civil engineering background.
  • Experience developing or delivering CADD user training.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic.
  • Strong experience with Python is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT service-management/ticketing platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level CADD environments and engineering workspaces.
