Job Description:Parsons is now hiring a Quality Control Engineer to join our Sandy Springsoffice to support major regional transportation infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a senior roadway design engineer with strong technical expertise, a passion for delivering high-quality transportation design projects, and a desire to mentor junior engineers in a highly collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement QA/QC plans, procedures, and standards for roadway and transportation design projects.
  • Perform quality control of full client design deliverable packages, including complete plan sets, reports, quantities, and supporting documentation, to ensure consistency, completeness, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Perform independent design checks and technical reviews of roadway geometry, alignment, modeling, grading, drainage, maintenance of traffic, and pavement design.
  • Review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications to verify technical accuracy, constructability, consistency, and compliance with project requirements, client standards, and agency criteria.
  • Collaborate with project managers, discipline leads, and multidisciplinary design teams to define quality expectations and integrate QA/QC activities into project schedules and delivery process.
  • Support project pursuits and delivery teams by identifying quality risks early and recommending practical solutions to improve project execution.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers on QA/QC best practices, roadway design standards, and checking procedures.
  • Develop and maintain quality tools, including standard review checklists, comment tracking systems, design review templates, and simple automation tools to support consistent quality delivery.
  • Develop and manage lessons-learned and best practice reports, promote knowledge sharing across the office, and help drive continuous improvement in design delivery.
  • Ensure design deliverables and associated construction support activities comply with applicable project specifications, contractual obligations, company QA/QC procedures, and industry standards.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong culture of quality, accountability, and collaboration within the engineering team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in roadway and highway design engineering.
  • Strong technical background in roadway geometric design for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of national industry standards and guidelines including AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT design standards, with experience applying them on transportation projects.
  • Experience performing independent design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination, and quality control of transportation design deliverables.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and methodologies (ISO 9001) and their application in engineering design environments.
  • Familiarity with design processes, construction standards, and regulatory requirements for roadway and highway projects.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineering staff and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale transportation infrastructure or design-build projects.
  • Previous experience serving as a design reviewer, task lead, or QA/QC manager for roadway projects.
  • Familiarity with GDOT project delivery procedures, electronic deliverables, and review requirements.
  • Experience with digital delivery, design automation tools, or quality tracking systems
