Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology.

Come be a part of what's next. Who We Are Every Netflix membership, from the moment someone signs up to every plan change, renewal, and cancellation flows through our platform. As a foundational part of the Membership & Monetization Platform (MMP), the Pricing, Catalog and Offers (PCO) team architects and operates the Tier-0 services that serve as Netflix's commercial source of truth.

We manage the global product and pricing catalog, run the promotional targeting infrastructure and operate the backend supporting member subscription transactions for ~330 million members across 190+ countries, with our high-fanout services handling over 5 million requests per second. We're a team of engineers who care deeply about both product innovation and engineering excellence. We build platforms that enable teams to move quickly on new commerce experiences while maintaining the technical rigor required for systems where correctness at scale is paramount and failures can directly affect global revenue.

What You Will Work On You'll work across the full spectrum, from product-facing features that directly impact acquisition and retention, to the platform infrastructure that makes them possible at Netflix scale. You'll partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to build commerce experiences that drive growth. Recent examples: our systems enabled the password-sharing crackdown, helped launch the Ads-supported plan, and enabled new features for premium members.

On the platform side, you'll tackle distributed systems challenges: race conditions, consistency guarantees and throughput optimization. You'll evolve our infrastructure to keep pace with Netflix's expanding commerce surface (Ads, Games, Live Streaming). You'll also be part of the on-call rotation for these Tier 0 services, owning production reliability end-to-end.

We're Eager to Talk to You If: You have 10+ years of experience building resilient, high-scale, low-latency distributed systems in production. You thrive in ambiguity, possessing a platform mindset that allows you to easily translate vague business directives into clear, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions. You are dedicated to operational excellence and have dealt with hard correctness problems: race conditions, eventual consistency, and distributed transactions.

You exhibit extreme ownership of your domain and have successfully led complex engineering projects from inception to delivery, proactively improving critical systems along the way. You excel in cross-functional environments and communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to non-engineering partners. Some nice to haves: Working experience with {Java || Kotlin || C# || Scala}, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Hive or AWS.

Experience with Presto and/or Spark SQL, Apache Flink Proficient with gRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design and implementation. Experience with SQL & NoSQL multi-region data stores such as Cassandra, Amazon Aurora, Memcached. Comfortable with production on-call responsibilities and incident response for Tier 0 services.

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field. Does this sound like something you'd like to do. Awesome.
