Job Description
The Network Engineer provides design, implementation, and support for hardware and software with a primary focus on Wireless network implementation. Knowledge of LAN switches, PoE and wireless controllers are essential. The Network Engineer will also upgrade routers and switches to support moving from older TDM technology to IP networking.Key responsibilities include:Implement wireless expansion based on site surveys that will be completed by 3rd party vendor;Design, configure, and implement new Cisco LAN and WAN infrastructure required to support the wireless rollout;Provide support of our Cisco TCP/IP network environment;Assist in the development, compliance, and continuous improvement of all aspects of networking infrastructure necessary to ensure the effective, secure , and regulatory compliant operations of Ameren's IT network resources.Key projects include Expansion of wireless coverage based on site surveys; Upgrading bandwidth at locations primarily upgrading from TDM to IP fiber-connected facilities.Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent computer related degree from an accredited college or university. Consideration may be given to candidates with extensive related experience without the academic requirements.Certification/License:Cisco CCNA is required preferably with wireless.
Qualifications
Experience:3+years of CISCO routers, switches, and related equipment, LAN's, WAN's, firewalls, internetworking, data communications, or IP-based wireless networks implementation and support.Must possess excellent communication, problem-solving, organization, and human relations skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and outside vendors/contractors. Must also be able to produce exceptional results while working independently or as a team member.
