Job description

Job Description Step into a hands-on laboratory role where your technical accuracy and commitment to safety directly support high-quality products and compliant operations. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your lab skills in a fast-paced, production-focused environment with clear procedures and standards. Rotations: 7/2 - 7/4 (day / night rotation) 12 Hour Shifts About the Role: As a Contract Lab Technician, you will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests to support quality control and quality assurance activities.

You will be responsible for generating reliable data, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring that all testing is carried out in accordance with established methods and regulatory requirements. Your work will help identify issues early, reduce risk, and uphold consistent product quality. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine microbiology and chemistry tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to approved methods.

Prepare reagents, media, standards, and samples, ensuring proper labelling, handling, and storage. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in line with SOPs and manufacturer guidelines. Document all test results accurately in lab notebooks, worksheets, and electronic systems, ensuring full traceability.

Conduct quality control checks on test methods and equipment, investigating and reporting any deviations or out-of-spec results. Follow and enforce laboratory safety protocols, including proper PPE use, chemical handling, and waste disposal in compliance with OSHA standards. Assist with maintaining laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.

Support internal audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives within the lab. Key Requirements: Proven experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in a quality control or quality assurance setting. Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and OSHA compliance requirements.

Hands-on experience performing basic microbiology and chemistry testing using standard lab techniques. Ability to follow written procedures, SOPs, and test methods with high attention to detail. Competence in maintaining accurate records and working with basic laboratory information systems or data entry tools.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tests and priorities. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a lab team. Desirable Skills: Experience in a regulated industry such as food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related manufacturing.

Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or other quality management systems. Exposure to method validation, troubleshooting test methods, or participating in root cause investigations. Basic statistical understanding for interpreting test results and control charts.

Qualifications: Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent laboratory experience. Bachelor's degree in a relevant science field preferred. Laboratory safety training or OSHA-related coursework/certification is an advantage.

If you are a detail-focused Lab Technician who takes pride in safe, accurate, and reliable lab work, this contract role offers a strong platform to contribute and develop your skills-apply now to be considered.
