Job description

When you join Verizon
You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely - even if they're daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love - driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together - lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.
What you'll be doing...
You'll be part of a team ensuring the efficient fulfillment of the inventory that powers Verizon. In this highly independent, individual contributor role, you will strategically own a segment of our third-party logistics (3PL) network performance, driving accountability with 3PL site leadership and aligning internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, world-class execution.
  • Partnering directly with 3PL site leadership across multiple large distribution centers with 15-20M units of annual throughput to drive operational success and service level compliance.
  • Leading Monthly Performance Scorecards and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to maintain a high bar of 3PL accountability.
  • Overseeing 3PL contractual performance, tracking logistics costs and enforcing Service Level Agreement (SLA) penalties and incentives.
  • Acting as the primary liaison for internal stakeholders (Inventory Planning, Sales, Product Marketing), translating 3PL performance into actionable business strategies.
  • Initiating, sponsoring, and tracking large-scale continuous improvement projects to optimize the customer experience, improve capacity utilization, and reduce overall network expense.
  • Strategically managing the reverse logistics pipeline, partnering with 3PLs to maximize the recovery value of returned equipment and devices.
  • Designing and implementing long-term corrective actions with 3PL partners that resolve the root-cause of issues.
  • Overseeing the efficient utilization of space and material.

What we're looking for...
You are a proactive operator who understands that third-party logistics is a "trust-but-verify" relationship, where it is critical to inspect what you expect. You are experienced at influencing without authority-building deep trust with senior stakeholders while simultaneously holding external 3PL partners strictly accountable to their SLAs and financial targets.
You move fluidly between strategic planning and granular operational troubleshooting within full-lifecycle distribution, spanning OEM receiving to reverse logistics. You are a champion of problem-solving who goes beyond treating symptoms to design structural, preventative solutions. You communicate seamlessly across corporate functions, ensuring that external supply chain execution aligns perfectly with internal business objectives. Furthermore, you are comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading the charge to build scalable, mature processes where none currently exist.
You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Proven experience managing performance, contracts, or relationships with Third-Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) or major suppliers.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Master's degree in Business (MBA), Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing complex distribution contracts and enforcing SLAs.
  • Experience in large scale operations, distribution, or manufacturing (facilities >300k sq ft).
  • Exposure to Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Root Cause Analysis), ideally with Black/Green belt certification.
  • PMP certification.
  • Proficiency in SAP and comprehensive understanding of WMS capabilities.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
Where you'll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
Scheduled Weekly Hours
40
Equal Employment Opportunity

Depending on the role, employees have the opportunity to receive compensation in the form of premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay, allowances, etc. Newly hired employees receive up to 15 days of vacation per year, which grows with additional service.
