Job description

Civil/Site Engineer

Collier Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil-Site Project Manager (with a P.E. license) to help lead our Civil-Site Design Department and further develop the department to align with Collier Engineering’s Vision of improving Tennessee communities. We are looking for a driven individual with a background in general civil-site design to oversee various projects in the civil engineering industry for public and private clients. Projects will include roadway construction and land development (residential, commercial, and mixed-use) projects.

The successful candidate will have experience with AutoDesk Civil3D, demonstrate reliability, make judgment calls independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and be team oriented.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a multi-discipline / multi-company design team while ensuring the project comes in on time and under budget. Managing budgets, schedules, and deliverables to distribute to the project team and clients as necessary
  • Leadership skills to lead a design team from inception through contract documents and construction administration to final inspection and acceptance
  • Written and oral communication skills to coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff
  • Knowledge and experience ensuring project compliance with regulations, permits, and environmental restrictions
  • Experience with quality control/quality assurance reviews to analyze coordinated sets of project plans and report deviations from plans and specifications to client, subcontractor, and/or supervisor
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, design, TDOT / Metro / Development specifications, construction documents, and project processes. Familiarity with standard operations, policies, and procedures within the A / E industry. Ability to learn on the job.
  • Having a can-do attitude and ability to get in and figure things out with little or no guidance from others
  • Mentorship skills to create a dynamic learning environment
  • Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with management experience
  • Continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset
This position requires effective communication skills to coordinate the production of project tasks and present deliverables to clients and vendors as applicable. The ideal candidate will be looking to take ownership and pride in tasks assigned with a team-oriented, positive attitude.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with TN Professional Engineering license
  • 5+ years of experience (minimum) on a varied background of projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, campus / institutional, and public works required
  • Physical demands require frequent walking, standing, and stooping throughout each day
  • Working environment includes occasional outdoor exposure to environmental elements, and working in high-traffic areas
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to qualify for insurance through our Fleet Program
  • Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. Collier Engineering will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
