Job description

Engineering Checker
Looking for a full time Engineer with checker experience in the development of specialized industrial equipment for steel, construction, and mining industries.
The Engineering Checker's responsibilities are to assure the design team's drawings and designs adhere to standard design, drafting, and manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities
Review electronic drawing files and design 3D models for compliance with Kress guidelines and practices
Review designs for manufacturability
Review designs to assure utilization of existing parts where possible
Review ECN notices to ensure correctness of documented drawing changes, priority, and any necessary disposition or rework of parts or assemblies
Coordinate with industrial engineering on design changes to improve manufacturability and design of fixtures or other necessary methods to hold dimensions critical to functionality
Coordinate with manufacturing or outside vendors on issues that may require design changes or drawing clarification
Provide suggestions for potential rework of dispositioned parts that cannot be used as-is
Consult with manufacturing or vendors on actions required to address identified non-conformance of parts in-process of manufacture
Job Duties
Prioritize and manage the drawing packages to check based on Engineering Release date requirements or ECN priority and effect on in-process jobs in manufacturing
Consult with Engineering personnel for drawing corrections
Consult with Engineering personnel for suggested design changes relative to decrease in cost, material changes, manufacturability, etc.
Participate in development and maintenance of the engineering design drafting standards
Participate in design reviews as requested
Perform drafting and design functions as checking workload permits
Occasional travel to liaise with Customers and Suppliers as required
Review identified non-conforming vendor or Kress manufactured parts and provide disposition for use of the parts
Participate in failure analysis of returned customer failed parts or assemblies and determining required actions for any design improvements
Participate in review of components of customer assemblies to be rebuilt at Kress and help determine what components can be used as-is, reworked, or replaced
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical schooling preferred
3+ years in design of heavy equipment or manufacturing facility
Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, Unigraphics/NX preferred
Exceptional attention to detail
Possess strong organizational and communication skills
