Job Description

This role is responsible for driving business development, customer acquisition, and growth opportunities for the Business Banking segment. The leader will serve as the primary Business Banking representative in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisition opportunities that accelerate growth and enhance client value.

Working across the enterprise, this individual will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and play a key role in shaping the long-term growth strategy for Business Banking through market analysis, strategic planning, and corporate development activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic partnerships, investments, acquisitions, and other growth opportunities that support Business Banking objectives.
  • Serve as the Business Banking lead throughout the transaction lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, due diligence, business case development, financial analysis, term sheet preparation, and contract negotiations, as appropriate.
  • Lead cross-functional teams comprised of stakeholders from Finance, Accounting, Product, Legal, Risk, Operations, and other key business functions to assess and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding market opportunities, growth investments, partnerships, and acquisition targets.
  • Partner with leaders across U.S. Bank to maximize enterprise value and identify opportunities for collaboration, integration, and growth.
  • Collaborate with partners across Payments, Treasury Management, Consumer & Business Banking, Private Wealth, and other business lines to identify opportunities that increase client engagement, deepen relationships, and expand Business Banking market presence.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, and market developments to identify opportunities that can drive business growth and cross-enterprise impact.
  • Lead the development and refinement of a multi-year acquisition, investment, and partnership strategy aligned with Business Banking growth objectives.
  • Provide thought leadership on long-term strategic direction, market positioning, and inorganic growth opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate development, investment banking, strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of the banking, fintech, payments, and small business banking landscape.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and business case development expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and negotiating acquisitions, investments, strategic partnerships, and alliance agreements.
  • Experience leading complex due diligence processes involving financial, operational, legal, compliance, and risk considerations.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and drive decision-making across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong executive presence with outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across business lines and functional teams.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $170,255.00 - $200,300.00
