Job Summary:
The Design Engineer supports engineering and manufacturing operations by designing, reviewing, and optimizing tooling, fixtures, and product solutions for aerospace and contract manufacturing applications. This role ensures that both new and customer provided designs meet manufacturability, quality, and production requirements. The Design Engineer collaborates closely with customers, engineering, and production teams to improve outcomes and support successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate job feasibility and support quoting for potential work
  • Design tooling and fixtures, including layup tools, mill fixtures, lifting fixtures, and proof load fixtures
  • Collaborate with customers to optimize designs and ensure requirements are met
  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for internal and customer use
  • Modify customer provided designs to improve manufacturability and resolve interferences
  • Develop supplemental documentation such as work instructions, presentations, and extracted model data
  • Provide technical support to toolmakers and production teams
  • Review work in progress to ensure quality standards and alignment with project goals
  • Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and recommend solutions
  • Communicate project updates, questions, and status clearly with internal teams and customers
  • Participate in team and engineering meetings to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain compliance with company quality systems and procedures
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, additional technical training preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design, aerospace machining, or a related field
  • Proficiency in CAD software, CATIA preferred, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and procedures
  • Strong mathematical skills including fractions, decimals, and basic calculations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
