Job description

A Brief Overview

The Director, Operations & Clinical Services will be a contributing member of UH Community Medical Center senior leadership teams and will identify new business opportunities, create and implement new hospital services through business plans, develop and maintain physician relationships and provide leadership, oversight, and inspiration to a range of leaders and departments within the medical center.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain visible presence in the community to assess opportunities for program growth and expansion.
  • Identify and implement program development opportunities and synergies through the use of business plans and by working with a wide range of colleagues throughout the UH system
  • Collaborate with physicians and other providers to build and foster strong relationships for the growth and success of the hospital and to optimize patient care in the community
  • Coordinate the recruitment and retention of new physicians to support the growth, expansion, and program development initiatives
  • Develop business process improvement initiatives as it relates to a variety of ambulatory services
  • Lead community benefit initiatives, identify and pursue grant opportunities, and partner with development and other UH system functions to advance the mission of the entity medical center.
  • Provide leadership oversight for planning, operational management, and quality improvement for medical center specific operations such as: Radiology, Laboratory, Operating Room, Outpatient Surgery, Central Sterile Processing, Wound Contract, Respiratory, Timeshare/Property Management, Patient Transport and Fitness Center. Indirect oversight: Rehabilitation Services, Pharmacy, Facilities, Nutrition Services, Environmental Services, Construction, Safety, Security and Supply Chain. Where appropriate, this oversight is in conjunction with system leaders for the departments to ensure a coordinated and aligned prioritization of work and goal achievement.
  • Where applicable, plans, implements and optimizes ambulatory programs/initiatives in collaboration with ambulatory leadership and other UH departments to improve access, patient and provider experience, staff engagement and revenue generation.
  • Partners with institutes and physician practices to create strategies and initiatives that foster service line growth and efficiency.
  • Develops and operationalizes business plans to support programmatic development.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related field. (Required) 
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including In-depth knowledge of healthcare trends, finances, provision of care and health care delivery systems 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a high degree of emotional intelligence 
  • Proven fiscal management abilities including budgetary control, expense reduction and new revenue generation 
  • Experience in assessing market opportunities, developing business plans and implementing programs to respond to such opportunities 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to gather and assess data and generate meaningful strategies for problem resolution (Required)
