Special Education Teacher (High School Inclusion) | $50/hr - Columbus, Ohio

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a high school (Grades 9-12) assignment supporting students in a fully inclusive classroom environment.

Position Highlights
  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Grade Level: High School (9-12)
  • Setting: Full Push-In Inclusion Model
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 40 weeks
  • Start Date: August 31, 2026
  • Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour
  • Interview Required: Yes, with Student Services Director
Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
  • Participate in IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and educational planning.
  • Support student success within the general education classroom setting.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local special education requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification required per state and district guidelines
  • Special Education certification preferred
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.  The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.  

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred 
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations 
  • Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred 
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
  • Current CPR if applicable 
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
