Job description

Do you want to build a career that is truly worthwhile? Working at the World Bank Group provides a unique opportunity for you to help our clients solve their greatest development challenges. The World Bank Group is one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries; a unique global partnership of five institutions dedicated to ending extreme poverty, increasing shared prosperity and promoting sustainable development. With 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, we work with public and private sector partners, investing in groundbreaking projects and using data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges. For more information, visit www.worldbank.org.
VPU Context:
As part of the World Bank Group's Planet Vertical, the Climate Department supports WBG delivery on climate and development. It helps operational teams integrate mitigation, adaptation, resilience, and climate risk considerations into projects, programs, analytics, and client engagement. The Department works across WBG institutions, Global Practices, regions, and corporate functions to strengthen delivery, credibility, and consistency.
Unit Context:
The Climate Department's Sustainable Finance and Transaction Solutions unit (KTCSS) helps the WBG develop scalable solutions that respond to client demand and support credible implementation across IBRD/IDA, IFC, and MIGA. Its work spans sustainable finance solutions for mitigation and adaptation, climate co-benefits measurement, Paris Alignment, climate risk management, GHG accounting, and climate outcomes metrics. KTCSS also develops the methodologies, tools, and systems needed to mainstream these approaches and support consistent, efficient delivery across operations. It supports operational teams, develops practical guidance and knowledge, strengthens data and reporting, and advances product innovation and data- and AI-enabled solutions. The unit is seeking a versatile analyst to provide analytical, operational, and coordination support across this portfolio. The assignment mix will evolve with team priorities. The role is suited to a strong climate generalist with sound core skills, an interest in climate and sustainable finance, good judgment, and a willingness to learn quickly and roll up their sleeves
Duties and accountabilities:
Conduct industry, market, project, and institutional research. Analyze economic, financial, technical, and portfolio data to support operational work, business development, and management decisions. Synthesize findings for different audiences.
Support team workstreams and WBG operations on Paris Alignment, climate co-benefits, sustainable finance, adaptation and resilience, climate risk, and related topics, under guidance from senior colleagues.
Support GHG accounting and climate outcomes metrics. Collect, clean, validate, and analyze data; document assumptions and results; and contribute to improving methodologies, tools, and reporting. This may include gross, net, and financed emissions and resilience outcomes.
Prepare briefs, presentations, reports, guidance, checklists, training and knowledge materials, and communications for internal and external audiences. Support editing, quality review, and dissemination.
Support practical tools, dashboards, data systems, workflow improvements, automation, and AI-enabled solutions, including testing, quality control, user support, and maintenance.
Provide project-management and internal delivery support, including work planning, portfolio monitoring, procurement and contract coordination, meetings and events, stakeholder follow-up, and tracking deliverables.
Collaborate across WBG institutions, regions, Global Practices, operational teams, and corporate functions. Take ownership, respond quickly, shift flexibly between workstreams, and undertake additional assignments as priorities evolve.
