Travel Surgical Technologist – Operating Room
Location: Mauston, Wisconsin
Facility: Mile Bluff Medical Center
Job Type: 13-Week Contract
Start Date: September 7, 2026
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Position Overview
 
Mile Bluff Medical Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Surgical Technologist for a 13-week contract assignment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, supporting the surgical team throughout procedures, and ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
 
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical procedures.
Establish and preserve a sterile surgical field.
Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgeon during procedures.
Assist with surgical equipment setup, management, and specimen handling.
Perform initial and final counts of instruments, sharps, and sponges with the circulating nurse.
Prepare, organize, and restock surgical supplies and equipment.
Monitor steam sterilizer usage records and maintain organized suture carts, including expiration date checks.
Turn over operating rooms efficiently between cases.
Assist surgical team members with gowning and gloving.
Support patient positioning and assist with patient transport before and after procedures.
Collaborate effectively with the perioperative team to ensure safe, efficient surgical care.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred.
Previous surgical technologist experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Assignment Details
Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Weekend Call: Rotation required from Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM.
Response Time for Call: Must be able to respond within 15 minutes.
Holiday Coverage: Required
EMR: Meditech
State License: Not required
