Summary
Redwire Space Missions LLC is seeking a Contractor - Software Engineer (willing to consider all levels) to join our team. We are growing, and we're looking for a Contractor - Software Engineer (willing to consider all levels) to join our mission-driven team. This role is open to engineers of all experience levels who are experienced at developing innovative software solutions for space systems and advanced technologies.
While the position is primarily remote, ideal candidates would live within a reasonable commuting distance to one of our Redwire Space Missions locations in Littleton, CO; Albuquerque, NM; or Jacksonville, FL. though not required. You'll be expected to work onsite for key activities such as milestone reviews, integration and test events, and occasional customer meetings.
In this position, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of software for spacecraft avionics and mission systems. This role includes ownership of software modules throughout their lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through coding, verification, and delivery. You will work closely with systems, electrical, and test engineering teams to implement reliable flight and ground software for mission success.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and verify software solutions to meet system specifications including performance requirements.
  • Work with the team to author / conduct software static and dynamic analysis.
  • Work with the team to draft and release relevant software documentation such as requirements specifications, design specifications, and design documents.
  • Work in parallel with software and hardware engineers to develop and deliver complete embedded system solutions
  • Define system-level hardware and software interfaces
  • Write interface specifications for external sub-systems
  • Review hardware schematics to design and develop interfacing software applications
  • Participate in hardware and software trades
  • Develop software test procedures and associated test suites for unit, system, and regression testing
  • Support integrated systems testing
  • Attend project and subsystem engineering and management meetings when requested
  • Report on design and production status weekly to project manager(s)
  • Communicate issues and concerns to team members and managers and support planning to resolve technical, schedule, safety and cost issues
  • Follow basic design standards provided by to ensure acceptable performance.

Ideal Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field, with 5+ or more years of related experience designing and developing software for high reliability embedded systems using embedded Linux or RTOS
  • Experience with Nasa Core Flight System Framework and OpenC3/Cosmos
  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics interfaces and protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, CAN, SpaceWire, RS-422, Ethernet).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN) and issue-tracking tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with operating systems fundamentals such as schedulers, network stack, file system & memory management.
  • Software architecture, memory mapping, caching, DMA and interrupts experience.
  • Highly experienced in C, C++, Ubuntu, RHEL and dotnet applications.
  • Some limited travel.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Pay Range
$50.00 - $95.00 per hour
