Senior Project Manager - Stony Brook CPMP: Facilities Planning and Design

Location: 188 Belle Mead Road East Setauket, New York 11733

Schedule: Full time, 40 hour work week

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM 

Salary Range: $ 115,000-$135,000 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education)

Responsibilities

SUMMARY: 

The Project Manager for the Facilities Planning Department will be responsible for providing project planning and implementation services working directly with the Associate Director for Facilities Planning. The ideal candidate must be professional, organized and possess a strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. Expertise in Microsoft Office is a must, with an emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Project Management Software a plus. Must possess the ability to work independently, as well as in a group, and be a self-starter with minimal instruction and oversight

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

Conduct site surveys of potential real estate for clinical and administrative office sites. Complete review of lease terms, negotiations with real estate professionals/landlords, lease and exhibit review regarding said terms, plans and work letters. Provide space planning tor clinical practice, hospital or office renovation, relocation or development of new locations. Responsible for working on Stony Brook Medicine projects. The locations include but are not limited to: SBM Community Physician practices and administrative office locations throughout Long Island, Stony Brook Hospital, Ambulatory Care Pavilion, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Southampton Hospital, and Eastern Long Island Hospital. Create and review Request for Qualification for services and/or commodities to progress projects. Create bid documents and Request for Proposals, analyze/level bids and maintain contracts/purchase orders for services necessary for projects. Confirm compliance to NYS procurement guidelines as required Responsible for development and coordination of design and construction plans for assigned projects. Provide project management and construction management to trades personnel and contract labor personnel performing work on new construction and renovation construction projects. Track time and materials to insure projects are accomplished within funding constraints and allowable performance periods. Initiates requests for adjustments, time extensions and scope changes when required. Maintains complete project documentation records on all projects and provides bi-monthly status briefing to the Assistant Vice President, Facilities Planning and Design. Establish regular meetings with contractors and vendors for progress meetings and coordination schedule. Responsible for notifying appropriate practice administrators, department heads and/or their designees of project activities, scheduling and project progress. Responsible for facilities/space components of CON application preparation, compliance through construction and project closeout. Coordinate furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) purchase, delivery and install dates with to meet the scheduling needs of the project. Responsible for adherence to construction standards for ambulatory sites and finish palettes for all Stony Brook Medicine, Develop material selections and specifications in concert with SBM Standards. Maintain files for each project finish schedule. Serve as Senior Project Manager to Project Managers and provide assistance on project work as needed or as directed as appropriate to salary grade and rank

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience. in hospital facilities planning or facilities and construction project management. In lieu of degree, 10 years' experience in hospital or healthcare facilities planning, or facilities and construction project
  • Knowledge of NYSDOH, FGI, CMS, JCAHO and other regulatory processes. Experience using ProjectMates or other project management software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong background in Excel.
  • Experience in data analytics.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Prior Healthcare experience

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
