SAP MDG Consultant (with SAP EPPM & PS Functional Expertise) – Banking Industry

Summary

Experienced SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Consultant with strong functional expertise in SAP EPPM (Enterprise Portfolio & Project Management) and SAP PS (Project System), preferred for banking and financial services environments. Skilled in designing and governing enterprise project master data, ensuring compliance, data quality, and alignment with banking regulatory and audit requirements. Adept at supporting large‑scale IT transformation programs, digital banking initiatives, and enterprise project portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

Master Data Governance (MDG)

  • Implement and configure SAP MDG for project‑related master data (WBS elements, networks, cost objects, resources, vendors, organizational units).
  • Define governance models, workflows, approval hierarchies, and validation rules aligned with banking compliance standards.
  • Ensure high‑quality master data for project creation, budgeting, cost planning, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with data owners, PMO, finance controllers, and compliance teams to enforce data governance policies.
  • Manage data harmonization, cleansing, and migration activities for project master data.

SAP EPPM & PS Functional Support

  • Configure and support SAP EPPM and PS modules for IT, regulatory, and business transformation projects.
  • Design project structures (WBS, networks, activities) and integrate them with MDG governance workflows.
  • Support project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, settlement, and CapEx/OpEx classification.
  • Enable portfolio prioritization, scoring, and governance for banking initiatives (digital banking, cybersecurity, compliance programs).
  • Integrate project processes with FI/CO, MM, SD, HR, CATS, and procurement workflows.

Banking Industry Alignment

  • Ensure project master data and governance processes comply with banking regulatory frameworks (Basel, SOX, AML/KYC, IFRS).
  • Support audit‑ready documentation, traceability, and approval workflows.
  • Work with PMO and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting for multi‑million‑dollar banking portfolios.
  • Support vendor governance and contract management for IT and consulting partners.

Technical & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Prepare functional specifications for MDG enhancements, validations, derivations, and custom workflows.
  • Work with ABAP, workflow, and integration teams to build custom MDG solutions.
  • Lead SIT, UAT, and cutover activities for MDG and project system deployments.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to PMO, finance, and IT operations teams.



Required Skills & Experienc

  • e8–12 years of SAP experience, including strong hands‑on SAP MDG
  • .Functional expertise in SAP EPPM and SAP PS
  • .Experience in banking or financial services preferred
  • .Strong understanding of project accounting, CapEx/OpEx, cost centers, and financial controls
  • .Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (SOX, Basel, IFRS)
  • .Experience with SAP S/4HANA and Fiori
  • .Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
