Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Spacecraft Communications RF Equipment Technician to join our team at the Fort Irwin Complex in California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.
The Deep Space Network is NASA's international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
What You'll Do:
  • You will be responsible for testing, maintaining, and modifying RF and microwave subsystems that support the Deep Space Network (DSN).
  • Working on equipment like transmitters, receivers, and cryogenic microwave devices to ensure the continuous success of NASA's space exploration efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues using advanced technical expertise, documentation, and schematics.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on RF and microwave equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate state-of-the-art test equipment and tools to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to safety procedures and industry regulations, maintaining a productive and safe workplace.
  • Document all activities accurately and in compliance with regulatory and site-specific guidelines.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb antennas up to 250 feet for maintenance.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and hazard recognition.
  • Proficiency in following regulatory guidelines and documenting job activities accurately.
