What your day in this role might involve at OC-Stokesdale:

The primary purpose of the Moulder Operator (Trainee) is to learn all aspects of the moulders, including safety, of oneself and crew to OSHA and company standards; quality per spec and production, and effectively execute customer specifications.

  • Always wear proper eye and ear protection.
  • Always follow proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Make sure all employees in your area are following established safety procedures.
  • Keep the area clean and organized.
  • Follow posted standard work instructions.
  • Properly execute all aspects of the work order process including in feeds and out feeds of material.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of moulder as well as RF gluer and basic functions of each machine in the area.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set-up and adjust the DET.
  • Must be able to operate moulder to create parts within spec and as instructed to per run schedule.
  • Demonstrate the ability to completely change over on RF gluer as well as moulder and DET.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust moulder when material does not meet the required specifications.
  • Must be able to setup and produce wide profile jambs when needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adhere to cutter head change out / Hydro-lock pump up schedule.
  • Must be able to understand specs of wide jambs.
  • Must be able to understand all metrics displayed on production tracker
  • Understand and be able to operate scanner for production tracker.
  • Minimal missed scans on production tracker
  • Be able to keep accurate notes on daily production. This includes issues in the cell, as well as anything that cannot be captured with the production tracker.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the quality standards required to produce a good product.
  • Ensure completion and submission of Quality Control documents (specification check sheets).
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot small problems within the cell.
  • Be able to coordinate with maintenance to assist in identifying and fixing problems within the cell.
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve minor inventory issues by contacting inventory personnel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to train crew members in every position within the cell.
  • Delegate tasks to crew members within cell to stay productive during down time.
  • Be able to explain the process from beginning to end.
  • Ensure all scrap is accounted for and reported properly.

  • High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 Years Old
  • Good attendance
  • Elevated level of math skills (converting fractions to decimal. Adding, subtracting, multiplying decimals and fractions)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Able to read a tape measure and calipers
  • Able to read, write, and understand to interpret documents like specs
  • Able to demonstrate basic computer skills including sending/receiving emails and basic typing skills

Would be terrific if you also had...

  • Preferably one year experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience with
    • Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have flexibility
    • Show initiative, be a self-starter, and be able to train and coach others
    • Lockout/Tagout procedures

There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:

  • Lift 35lbs
  • Stand for 10 hours straight
  • Climb and descend stairs as needed for the role
  • Do repetitive movements (hand, wrist and arm)
  • Walk, bend, twist, and stoop
  • Withstand heat in excess of 95 degrees; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
  • Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent.
