Job description

Equivity is seeking an experienced remote litigation paralegal with recent law firm experience supporting attorneys in one or more litigation practice areas, including commercial litigation, personal injury, employment law, real estate litigation, insurance defense, construction litigation, business disputes, or general civil litigation.

This is an assignment-based opportunity designed for paralegals who value the flexibility of remote work and enjoy supporting a variety of law firms and matters across the country. As client needs evolve, assignments and workload may vary based on business demand. This role is a good fit for an experienced paralegal who values professional flexibility and is comfortable with a workload that can fluctuate rather than requiring a guaranteed number of weekly hours from the outset.

When actively supporting clients, responsiveness is important. Because client needs can arise on short notice, paralegals are expected to remain responsive to their active clients and Equivity managers within one hour during their stated availability.

If you're an experienced litigation paralegal who appreciates autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to work with multiple legal teams, this assignment-based model may be a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage litigation matters from intake through resolution while maintaining organized case files
  • Draft, revise, and proofread pleadings, motions, correspondence, notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents
  • Prepare, serve, and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and document productions
  • Coordinate and track discovery deadlines, document collection, and litigation calendars
  • Prepare and electronically file documents in state and federal courts while ensuring compliance with court rules
  • Maintain case calendars, monitor deadlines, schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
  • Assist with deposition preparation, including coordinating witnesses, exhibits, and transcripts
  • Prepare trial materials, including exhibit binders, witness lists, trial notebooks, and courtroom logistics
  • Conduct legal and factual research and summarize findings for attorney review
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, vendors, and experts
  • Proactively monitor case progression, follow up on outstanding items, and anticipate attorney needs

About You
  • 3+ years of recent litigation paralegal experience in a law firm
  • Experience in one or more of the following: commercial litigation, personal injury, employment law, real estate litigation, insurance defense, construction litigation, business litigation, or other civil litigation
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum availability of 20 hours per week to start
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and discovery practices
  • Experience with state and/or federal court e-filing
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple active litigation matters
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with litigation case management software (Clio or similar is a plus)
  • Windows-based computer preferred
  • Availability and responsiveness within one hour during standard business hours (9:00 AM–6:00 PM)

Compensation and Work Structure
  • W-2 employment
  • Compensation: $26 per hour
  • Assignment-based work with client assignments determined by demand, qualifications, and availability
  • Assignment volume and hours may vary
  • Client assignments may take time to develop and are not guaranteed immediately upon joining

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid sick time
  • Annual performance bonus
  • 6-month performance review with potential pay increase
  • Expense reimbursement
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Supportive long-term remote work environment
