What is a contract remote Golang developer?

Contract Remote Golang Developers are software engineers who specialize in the Go programming language (often called Golang) and work on a contractual basis from remote locations. They are typically hired for specific projects or timeframes rather than as full-time, permanent employees. Their responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and other applications using Go, often collaborating with distributed teams. Contract remote work offers flexibility for both developers and employers, allowing access to a global talent pool and the ability to scale teams up or down as needed.

What is the difference between Contract Remote Golang Developer vs Contract Remote Backend Developer?

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract remote Golang developer?

To thrive as a Contract Remote Golang Developer, you need strong proficiency in Go programming, experience with RESTful APIs, and a solid understanding of software development best practices. Familiarity with tools like Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, as well as relevant certifications, are commonly required. Excellent problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial for remote collaboration and delivering results independently. These competencies ensure you can efficiently build scalable applications, work seamlessly with distributed teams, and meet project deadlines in a remote environment.

What are some common challenges faced by contract remote Golang developers, and how can they be addressed?

Contract remote Golang developers often face challenges such as managing communication across different time zones, quickly adapting to new codebases, and maintaining productivity without direct supervision. To address these, it's helpful to set clear expectations with clients regarding work hours and preferred communication channels. Job description

Senior Software Engineer, Transaction Management
About Us
Turnkey is developer-first infrastructure for private key management, making it simple to create wallets, sign transactions, and automate on-chain actions through one elegant API, without ever exposing sensitive key material. Founded by the team who scaled Coinbase Custody from zero to a $100M+ ARR business and helped protect over $100B in crypto assets, Turnkey is tackling crypto security at its foundational level. Our mission is to make strong cryptography the default across the open internet the same way AWS made scalable computing the default for software.
Our team is low-ego, high-agency, and high-autonomy, with a significant amount of combined experience in cryptography, security, and low-level systems. We're building the trustless, programmable infrastructure that will power the next wave of mass-market crypto applications and we're looking for people who want to shape what that future looks like.
We are looking for a crypto-native engineer to join our Transaction Management team. This team is at the heart of what Turnkey does, building the systems that orchestrate transactions and read onchain state across a wide range of blockchain protocols. We write primarily in Go and operate at the intersection of rigorous engineering and deep protocol knowledge.
What You'll Do
  • Design and build transaction parsing, validation, and broadcasting infrastructure across multiple blockchain protocols
  • Develop and maintain protocol-specific libraries and abstractions that power Turnkey's transaction management layer
  • Collaborate effectively across the company to design and deliver core product capabilities
  • Write internal product specifications, external developer documentation, and technical whitepapers
  • Design and build new product features end-to-end driven by customer requests and ecosystem developments
  • Assist in scaling out a world-class engineering team
  • Develop thoughtful deployment processes and infrastructure to reduce the risks inherent in the software development lifecycle

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of production engineering experience
  • Golang engineering skills, this team writes primarily in Go
  • Deep, hands-on familiarity with crypto protocols; EVM fluency is a must, and breadth across other chains is a strong plus
  • Experience working with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers
  • An understanding of modern application architectures with opinions on how they should be developed and deployed
  • Experience building and operating large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure
  • Prior experience building scaled crypto products
  • A healthy amount of paranoia :-)

Style Points
  • Experience developing against TEEs, HSMs, and other secure computing environments
  • Experience working with Temportal or other async workflow systems
  • Expertise in threshold signing systems and a desire to stay on the cutting edge of production-grade cryptography
  • Broad protocol fluency beyond EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, or others
  • Actively tracking developments in the crypto ecosystem and strongly opinionated on where it is going

What We Offer
  • Full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA/FSA, 401(k) - detailed benefits overview available as we get further in the process
  • Paid parental leave
  • Unlimited PTO
  • $3,000/yr learning and development budget to attend industry conferences
  • Multiple team offsites per year
  • Lunch stipend

Please note that while the team is remote, we are only considering candidates who are physically based in the United States and Canada at the current time.
Turnkey is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply.
Compensation range
$200,000-$250,000 USD
