Job description

Salary:

We are looking for an experienced fire protection engineer to be responsible for the technical engineering, analysis, design, and code compliance (NFPA standars and AHJ requirements) of fire protection and life safety systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities.


Key Responsibilities

Perform engineering design and analysis for fire protection systems, including fire alarm, sprinkler, clean agent, and special suppression systems.

Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.

Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC, IFC, local AHJ requirements).

Participate in project planning, scope definition, and technical risk assessment.

Serve as a technical authority on fire protection matters, providing guidance and resolving complex engineering issues.

Support permitting, plan review, and approval processes with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

Respond to RFIs, technical clarifications, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience in fire protection, fire alarm, or life safety system engineering/design.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, fire alarm and suppression systems, hydraulic calculations, life safety systems, and code compliance.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical documentation, design packages, and construction submittals using tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and technical communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CFPS, NICET, SET, PMP, or similar.
  • Experience with complex or mission-critical facilities.
  • Field experience with installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of fire protection systems.
  • Familiarity with integrated building systems including fire alarm, BAS, HVAC shutdown, smoke control, and emergency communications.
