Job Summary:
Red River is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Test Engineer with a strong background in U.S. Navy test and evaluation. The role involves test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting for complex IaaS environments, ensuring alignment with Navy standards and cybersecurity requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze system requirements, interface control documents, and engineering specifications to develop comprehensive test plans and traceability matrices.
• Translate high-level Navy or DoD requirements into actionable, measurable test objectives.
• Identify test gaps, risks, and dependencies across multi‑vendor IaaS architectures.
• Create detailed test procedures for functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing of IaaS components.
• Develop repeatable test workflows for provisioning, scaling, failover, and lifecycle operations across ACI, vCenter, ESXi, and VM environments.
• Ensure procedures align with Navy T&E standards, configuration management practices, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Execute test events in lab or operational environments, documenting results with precision and clarity.
• Validate system behavior, configuration baselines, and interoperability across compute, network, and storage layers.
• Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with engineering teams to reproduce, isolate, and verify defects.
• Generate detailed trouble reports (TRs) consistent with Navy or DoD reporting standards.
• Track defects through their lifecycle, ensuring proper categorization, prioritization, and closure.
• Validate fixes, perform regression testing, and maintain accurate test artifacts.
• Test and validate:
• Cisco ACI fabric policies, contracts, EPGs, and spine/leaf configurations
• VMware vCenter operations, cluster management, DRS/HA behavior, and resource pools
• ESXi hosts including installation, patching, networking, and storage configurations
• Virtual machines provisioning, templates, snapshots, and performance baselines
• Cisco Intersight monitoring, orchestration, and hardware lifecycle management
• Support testing of additional IaaS components such as storage arrays, hyperconverged platforms, and automation/orchestration tools.
• Produce high-quality test reports, data packages, and readiness assessments for leadership and stakeholders.
• Maintain configuration-controlled test artifacts, including procedures, results, and traceability documentation.
• Support formal test events, readiness reviews, and certification milestones.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience supporting U.S. Navy T&E, operational test, developmental test, or data analysis.
• Strong understanding of DoD test processes, documentation standards, and configuration management.
• Proficiency in writing test plans, test procedures, and trouble reports.
• Ability to analyze logs, system behavior, and performance metrics to identify issues.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals (VLANs, VXLAN, routing, switching).
• Ability to work in secure environments and follow Navy cybersecurity and accreditation processes.
• U.S. Citizenship Required
Preferred:
• Experience with cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with: Cisco ACI, VMware vCenter, ESXi hypervisors, and virtual machine provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Cisco Intersight or similar infrastructure management platforms.
• Knowledge of automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible, Python) for test efficiency.
• Experience with storage platforms.
• Active Secret clearance.
