Duration: 12-Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced Elastic Consultant to support enterprise-scale monitoring, security, and analytics initiatives in a highly secure environment. This role will focus on designing, administering, and optimizing Elastic Stack solutions while partnering with cross-functional teams to improve visibility, detection capabilities, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Elasticsearch technologies, strong automation skills, and experience supporting compliance and cybersecurity programs within government or defense environments. What You'll Do:
Elastic Platform Administration • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Elastic Stack environments, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats. • Ensure platform availability, performance, scalability, and operational stability. • Monitor system health and proactively resolve performance issues.
Dashboard Development & Visualization • Develop Kibana dashboards and visualizations for operational monitoring, cybersecurity metrics, executive reporting, and compliance tracking. • Translate complex data into actionable insights for technical and business stakeholders.
Detection Engineering & Alerting • Create and enhance detection rules, correlation logic, and alerting strategies. • Tune alerts to reduce false positives and improve threat detection effectiveness. • Support continuous improvement of security monitoring capabilities.
Data Management & Lifecycle Optimization • Implement and manage index lifecycle policies (ILM), retention schedules, and archival strategies. • Optimize storage utilization and data performance while meeting compliance requirements. • Support data governance and operational reporting needs.
Automation & Integration • Develop automation scripts and workflows using Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash. • Streamline onboarding of new data sources, reporting processes, health monitoring, and routine operational tasks. • Integrate Elastic solutions with enterprise systems and security tools.
Compliance & Security Support • Generate dashboards, reports, metrics, and evidence required for RMF, ATO, audit, and continuous monitoring activities. • Support compliance initiatives and documentation efforts within secure environments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with Security, Network, Platform, Cloud, and Engineering teams. • Onboard new data sources and improve enterprise visibility. • Support incident response, remediation efforts, and operational enhancements. Required Qualifications: • Active Secret Security Clearance. • U.S. Citizenship. • Hands-on experience with Elastic Stack technologies, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats. • Experience building dashboards, reporting solutions, and data visualizations in Kibana. • Knowledge of detection engineering, alert tuning, and security analytics. • Experience implementing data retention and lifecycle management policies. • Scripting and automation experience with Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash. • Experience supporting RMF, ATO, audit, or compliance-related activities. • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), federal government, or regulated environments. • Familiarity with cybersecurity operations and security monitoring programs. • Experience integrating multiple enterprise data sources into Elastic environments. • Knowledge of cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments. Additional Information: • Contract duration is anticipated to be one year. • Travel may be required up to 25%. • The customer reserves the right to hire the consultant after 90 days.
