Job description

Responsibilities

Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation's skies safe and connected. We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world's most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won't just support the mission - you'll define it.

Help shape the future of U.S. airspace safety and efficiency. Peraton is seeking a skilled and innovative Automation Developer SME to design, build, and maintain automation solutions that improve system reliability, testing efficiency, and operational performance across mission-critical programs. This role supports modernization initiatives by developing automated capabilities across testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows-enabling faster, more consistent, and more secure delivery of complex systems. The ideal candidate brings strong development skills, experience with automation frameworks, and the ability to operate in regulated, safety- and compliance-driven environments, including programs aligned with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Work Location:

  • This position is 100% on-site in Chantilly, VA.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions supporting testing, deployment, and operational workflows.

  • Build and enhance automation frameworks and reusable libraries for enterprise systems.

  • Collaborate with developers, test engineers, and system engineers to ensure automation is aligned with system design and requirements.

  • Support defect detection, root cause analysis, and remediation through automation-driven insights.

  • Ensure automation solutions comply with security, safety, and federal compliance requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation performance and reliability.

  • Maintain technical documentation, code repositories, and configuration artifacts.

  • Support system readiness reviews, certification activities, and audit preparation.

  • Continuously evaluate and recommend automation tools, frameworks, and best practices.

Why This Role Matters

Automation is essential to delivering modern, resilient systems at scale. As an Automation Developer, your work reduces manual effort, minimizes risk, and increases confidence in system performance. By embedding automation into testing, deployment, and operations, you directly support system quality, security, and readiness-helping ensure critical national systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
