Controller - Construction Industry
At Pacifica Continental, we are seeking an experienced Controller to join a leading and rapidly expanding company in the construction sector. This role is pivotal in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and leading a high-performing accounting team across multiple business units.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise all accounting functions for the business units, ensuring timely and precise financial reporting, monthly closing, and integration within the CMiC system.
  • Oversee financial forecasting, including Work in Progress (WIP) projections and other revenue and expense planning.
  • Participate in contract reviews, project setup, billing structures, and client meetings as needed.
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 30 project accountants, working closely with HR and operational leadership to attract, retain, and mentor top talent.
  • Work alongside senior management to craft and execute financial strategies that align with business growth objectives.
  • Implement and enhance internal controls to optimize financial integrity and efficiency.
  • Drive the budgeting and forecasting processes, consolidating financial data for strategic planning.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights into company performance, income, expenses, and balance sheet management.
  • Collaborate with the treasury team to support cash flow management, collections, and payment processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, recommending best practices for financial operations.
  • Assist in special projects and ad-hoc financial analyses as directed by senior leadership.
  • Supervise complex journal entries and ensure their accurate reflection across financial statements.
  • Manage the annual external audit process and year-end financial reporting.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Prior experience in project accounting is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Strong background in job costing and revenue recognition for construction companies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and strong analytical abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with integrated accounting systems.
