Contract Specialist

Starting Base Salary Range of $100,000 to $115,000 (DOE)

What You'll Be Doing as a Contract Specialist:

Coordinates key contracting processes and government programs related to US & international military, law enforcement, and government business including preparation of bids, negotiation of terms, monitoring shipments and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

  • Prepares, tracks, and manages a wide range of contract documents (MRs, PRs, SOWs, task orders, invoices, deliverables, government furnished property, etc.)
  • Prepares solicitation documents and responses for RFP's, invitations for bid, RFQ's and OTA's
  • Manages the bidding process, evaluation process, and bid protests
  • Negotiates contract terms and conditions
  • Reviews scopes of work and deliverables to ensure clarity, enforceability, and legal compliance
  • Forecasts and analyzes contract activity and shares key information with stakeholders
  • Coordinates with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services; identifies and resolves contract performance issues
  • Investigates and resolves compliance problems and supports development of corrective action plans
  • Maintains organized and complete contract files and documentation
  • Oversees contract audits, corrects deficiencies, and updates procedures to prevent future issues
  • Works with OEM partners on bids and tenders
  • Collaborates closely with international/military sales, production, engineering, finance teams, and quality department throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Stays current on government procurement trends and regulations 
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience You'll Need as a Contract Specialist:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business administration or a related field. With 7+ years of related work experience in government/DOD contract formation, administration and compliance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered 
  • Working knowledge of contract laws, financing, regulations and procedures applicable to the acquisition and administration of government contracts as they relate to governmental agencies and DOD (DCAA, DCMA, DLA and GSA) required
  • Experience in DoD contract management, working knowledge of the FAR/DFARS, OTA's, and knowledge of the DOD acquisition process preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and user familiarity with ERP/MRP applications required
  • Specialized Contract Administration training or certification preferred (NCMA - National Contract Management Association, WorldCC - World Commerce & Contracting, etc.)
  • Familiarity with shooting sports, hunting, military/Law enforcement and/or firearms is strongly preferred. 
  • Security clearance eligibility required

Work Environment for a Contract Specialist:

Work is performed in a normal office environment with the occasional exposure to manufacturing environment. Occasional travel required.
