Job description

Job Description
Position Overview
The Contracts Counsel will support and expand Invenergy's contract management function within the Legal Department. This role is responsible for reviewing, negotiating and processing a variety of high-volume commercial contracts used across the enterprise by the Invenergy's business.
The Contracts Counsel will also play a key role in updating and improving contract review processes, developing and maintaining form agreements and leveraging technology (including AI tools) to enhance efficiency and scalability within the Legal Department. This role requires regular engagement with non-legal departments to provide guidance and training on Invenergy's contract processes.
This position is on-site at Invenergy's downtown Chicago, IL office.
Responsibilities
  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of standard commercial contracts, including confidentiality agreements, consulting contracts, services contracts, supply and vendor agreements, sale agreements and various other commercial arrangements, in each case in a manner that is consistent with company risk parameters and precedent.
  • Maintain, update and manage the company's contract template library.
  • Collaborate with Legal Department to enhance contract review workflows, systems and processes, including the implementation and utilization of new products and AI solutions.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., asset management, project management, procurement, environmental, transmission, insurance, treasury, and IT) to provide training and guidance on contract processes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • Active state bar license required.
  • 3-5 years of experience within a law firm, as an in-house counsel or contract manager.
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of commercial agreements.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relay complex concepts to members of management and other business stakeholders.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with project coordination and management of projects with multiple levels of interface between vendors, internal staff, and other stakeholders preferred.

Base Pay
$155,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 25% - 40%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
