A Contract PRN RN (as-needed Registered Nurse) is a nurse who works on a contractual basis, typically filling in shifts as required by healthcare facilities. Contract PRN RNs are usually hired to fill staffing gaps on an as-needed basis, which means shifts can vary widely in length, frequency, and timing. Flexibility is essential, as assignments may be scheduled with short notice, including nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on facility needs. Work environments can range from hospitals and clinics to long-term care settings, and you may work with different teams each shift. While this arrangement provides the opportunity to gain diverse experience and maintain a flexible work-life balance, it also requires adaptability and strong self-motivation.
