Job description

The Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMH) Registered Nurse, requires a wide range of nursing, psychosocial, and neurobiological expertise. PMH nurses promote well-being through prevention and education, in addition to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.  The nurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner and demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care.  The PMH RN works in a variety of settings and provides comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities when applicable. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure in-state practicing
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Submission to Start Process:

  • Send submission to BDM - feedback will be given and will either be accepted or pending approval.
  • Once approved, move to OM ASAP.
  • Inform your HCP that they’ll receive an Interview Link from Montana State Hospital. Interview links are typically sent out 24-72 hours after submission.
  • It is highly recommended by the facility to attend the interview. Please Dress Appropriately and introduce yourself and the HCP, no need to stay for the duration of the interview.
  • Make sure that HCP is aware of the Time Zone differences for interview. Please see attached form in Position for Video Interview Etiquette. There is not a second chance for that NEO if an interview is missed.
  • Once Interview is complete – we wait for offers. Feedback/Offers are typically given about 2-4 weeks before Start Date. Continue Credentialing.
  • Once offered, you’ll receive an email from BDM for next steps.
  • Send out FDI email (Template will be sent by BDM) and Important Candidate Information.
  • Send Compliance as Adobe Stitched PDF to BDM as soon as possible.
  • Offer HCP Starbucks E-Gift card as a way to build relationships. Confirm travel and housing plans.
