Responsabilités
  • Effectuer des études de systèmes électriques pour des projets d'énergie renouvelable et de transmission à l'échelle des services publics, y compris des analyses EMT liées à l'intégration de ressources basées sur des onduleurs (IBR), des surtensions transitoires (TOV), des tensions de rétablissement transitoires (TRV), la stabilité du système, les interactions de protection, et des évaluations de conformité au réseau.
  • Développer, valider et maintenir des modèles détaillés de systèmes électriques à l'aide des logiciels EMTP, PSCAD, PSS®E et autres logiciels standard de l'industrie pour soutenir les études d'interconnexion, de planification et d'exploitation pour les installations éoliennes, solaires, BESS et connectées à la transmission.
  • Préparer des rapports techniques, de la documentation d'étude et des livrables pour les clients, en communiquant clairement les méthodologies, les hypothèses, les résultats, les risques et les recommandations techniques aux services publics, aux opérateurs de systèmes et aux parties prenantes du projet.
  • Agir en tant que réviseur technique pour les études de systèmes électriques et les analyses techniques, en garantissant l'exactitude des modèles, le respect des normes de l'industrie et la cohérence avec les exigences des services publics, ISO/RTO et réglementaires.
  • Collaborer avec des équipes d'ingénierie multidisciplinaires, des fabricants d'équipements, des développeurs de projets renouvelables et des parties prenantes des services publics pour soutenir le développement de projets, les approbations d'interconnexion, la conception détaillée, la mise en service et les activités d'intégration au réseau.

Job Title: Power Systems Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Power Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on utility-scale renewable energy and transmission projects. This role involves performing power system studies, including EMT analyses related to inverter-based resource integration and ensuring grid compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform power system studies for utility-scale renewable energy and transmission projects, including EMT analyses related to inverter-based resource (IBR) integration, transient overvoltage (TOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), system stability, protection interactions, and grid compliance assessments.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain detailed power system models using EMTP, PSCAD, PSS®E, and other industry-standard software to support interconnection, planning, and operational studies for wind, solar, BESS, and transmission-connected facilities.
  • Prepare technical reports, study documentation, and client deliverables, clearly communicating methodologies, assumptions, results, risks, and engineering recommendations to utilities, system operators, and project stakeholders.
  • Serve as a technical reviewer for power system studies and engineering analyses, ensuring modelling accuracy, adherence to industry standards, and consistency with utility, ISO/RTO, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, equipment manufacturers, renewable project developers, and utility stakeholders to support project development, interconnection approvals, detailed design, commissioning, and grid integration activities.
  • Provide technical guidance on renewable energy technologies, inverter-based resources, and grid performance requirements, supporting complex projects across the full project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with EMT, PSCAD, or PSS®E software.
  • Renewables power systems modelling experience (IBR integration).
  • 3+ years of experience in EMT Studies or PSSE.
  • PhD in a related field.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in TRV integration (transient recovery voltage).
  • Experience with power flow, short circuit, dynamic stability.
  • Understanding of black box models from turbine OEMs.
  • Experience in simulating switching transients, harmonic studies, ferroresonance, and subsynchronous resonance.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Intermediate (3-7 years of experience) in the field.
  • Fault ride through studies experience.
Work Environment

The position offers flexibility for fully remote work. For those near an office, there is a preference for working in-office 1-2 days a week or every two weeks for team building and collaboration purposes. This role provides exposure to the full lifecycle of major power infrastructure projects, including interconnection studies, renewable energy, energy storage, and grid modernization initiatives.
