Job Description:
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Supervised by: Medical Director/Practice Manager

Positions Supervised: Nurses and Medical Assistants

Interrelationships: Patients, families, medical staff, and other healthcare team members

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide nurse practitioner care to patients requiring wound care and primary care services within a medical group practice setting. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will assess, diagnose, manage, and treat both acute and chronic health conditions related to wound care and primary care. The NP will also provide patient education, coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational/Degree:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice RN educated at the graduate level to provide primary, acute, chronic, and specialty care.
  • Must have obtained a master's, post-master's, or doctoral degree and national board certification as a nurse practitioner.

Training/Licensure:

  • Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner to practice in the state.
  • Certified in wound care or willingness to obtain wound care certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Current DEA registration for prescriptive authority.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in wound care and primary care.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions quickly and accurately
  • Ability to supervise and mentor other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of current guidelines and standards for wound care management.
  • Ability to handle emotional and mental stress in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting, with experience in wound care preferred.
  • Active patient contact within the past three years required.
  • Experience in primary care or family medicine preferred.

JOB FACTORS:

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires considerable physical effort including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, exposure to temperature and humidity changes, and assisting in lifting or transferring patients.
  • Must possess adequate vision and hearing or use appropriate adaptive devices to meet essential job requirements.
  • Must provide evidence of an annual TB test and other required health screenings.

Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and make clinical decisions based on available data.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be emotionally stable and capable of handling stress in a clinical environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials.
  • Must adhere to infection control policies and protocols.
