Pay: $60-$75/hr
Location: Dearborn, MI - 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
Job Summary
Join a team responsible for building and supporting large-scale connected technology platforms that process billions of data transactions and support millions of connected devices globally. As a Platform Engineer, you will help design, develop, and maintain the connectivity layer that powers enterprise-scale cloud platforms and digital services. This role is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys building highly scalable microservices, developing API-driven solutions, and implementing automation through modern CI/CD practices. You will work with Java, cloud-native technologies, containerized applications, event-driven architectures, and platform services that require high availability, reliability, and performance.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with a passion for software engineering, distributed systems, platform reliability, and continuous improvement.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
  • Build and support RESTful APIs and gRPC services that enable communication across enterprise platforms and connected ecosystems.
  • Develop scalable, resilient, and secure platform services capable of handling high-volume, real-time data workloads.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate application builds, testing, deployments, and releases.
  • Package and deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • Develop and support event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka producers and consumers for real-time data processing and messaging.
  • Implement security best practices including OAuth2 and JWT-based authentication and authorization.
  • Collaborate with architects, product teams, and other engineering groups to design and deliver platform capabilities.
  • Participate in code reviews and advocate for software development best practices.
  • Write unit, integration, and automated tests while following Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles.
  • Monitor production services through logging, metrics, alerting, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, API, infrastructure, and deployment issues across multiple environments.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support performance and load testing efforts to ensure platform stability under significant transaction and connectivity volumes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for services, APIs, and platform components.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
  • Strong experience building microservices using Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with gRPC-based service architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience using Kafka or other event-streaming platforms.
  • Knowledge of secure application development practices, including OAuth2 and JWT authentication.
  • Experience working with Git and modern source control workflows.
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
