ABOUT THE ROLE

The Outsource Manager oversees all outsourced drafting and engineering services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with Wells standards. This role leads a team of Outsource Coordinators while managing vendor relationships and project workflows from start to finish. The Outsource Manager partners cross-functionally to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all outsourced projects.

Salary range ($90,000-$125,000). Based on location and experience.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO

  • Lead and manage a team of Outsource Coordinators supporting project execution
  • Serve as the primary liaison between outsource partners, sales, operations, and project management
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with outsourcing vendors
  • Plan and assign drafting workloads to meet project deadlines and budgets
  • Coordinate with D&E leadership to ensure quality assurance and resource alignment
  • Support development and enforcement of drafting and design standards and procedures
  • Partner with Technology Integration to align training and performance with best practices
  • Manage RFP processes, review bids, and execute vendor contracts
  • Oversee SOVs and pay applications to ensure alignment with project milestones and cash flow
  • Monitor and evaluate outsource partner performance using defined metrics
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across departments and external partners
  • Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned

WHO WEโ€™RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a strategic and detail-oriented leader with strong experience in drafting, engineering, or outsourced project management. They excel at managing teams, vendor relationships, and complex workflows while ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to standards. This individual is proactive, collaborative, and focused on driving efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement across all projects.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field with 5+ years of drafting experience
  • 3+ years of precast or related construction experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and develop team members
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and drafting/engineering software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and vendor relationships
  • Experience with contract management, RFP processes, and vendor performance evaluation
  • Ability to travel as needed, including occasional overnight stays

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional visits to active plant and field locations are required based on operational needs.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
  • May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
