Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trailers, trucks, cranes, and processing equipment in a metal recycling facility. This role is responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, completing safety inspections, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, cranes, and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system issues.
  • Complete safety inspections and ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Repair diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, wheel ends, and related components.
  • Perform welding and cutting as needed for equipment repairs.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Accurately document repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or automotive mechanic.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to use basic diagnostic tools, including a volt meter.
  • Must provide basic mechanic hand tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
