Senior Embedded Wireless Firmware Engineer
Location: Onsite, Monday-Friday (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $55-$60/hour
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Wireless Firmware Engineer to support the design and development of next-generation connected devices and IoT solutions. This role requires expertise in embedded firmware development, wireless communications, real-time operating systems, and secure connected products.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing firmware for low-power wireless devices and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for wireless connected products
  • Implement and optimize bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware architectures
  • Develop low-power embedded solutions for battery-operated devices
  • Design and support bootloaders and firmware update systems
  • Develop over-the-air (OTA) firmware update capabilities
  • Debug firmware and hardware issues using industry-standard tools
  • Collaborate with hardware, RF, systems, and test engineers
  • Document software architecture, design decisions, and development processes
  • Support product testing, validation, certification, and release activities
Required Qualifications
Embedded Firmware Development
  • Strong programming experience in Embedded C
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
  • Expertise with bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware development
  • Experience with interrupt-driven architectures
  • Strong understanding of:
    • DMA
    • Timers
    • Watchdogs
    • GPIO
    • UART
    • SPI
    • I2C
  • Experience developing bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms
  • Experience using J-Link, SWD, GDB, or similar debugging tools
  • Knowledge of low-power firmware design techniques
Wireless Communications
  • Experience developing wireless embedded products
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Z-Wave
    • Proprietary sub-GHz wireless protocols
    • Mesh networking
