PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan and provide clear, intentionally focused, and evidence-based therapy and support using state standards, subject matter content, district curriculum and student needs.
  • Participate in collaborative planning, programming, and instructional activities focused on improving instructional practices and student learning.
  • Recognize individual student strengths and learning needs and develop strategies and interventions to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement.
  • Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying services, and improving student learning.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
  • Maintain and submit information/records including student progress.
  • Participate in various meetings for the purpose of implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs.
  • Attend all relevant professional development and training opportunities.
  • Comply with supervision and evaluation procedures.
  • Direct the work of assigned classified staff if applicable.
  • Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Washington State Educator Staff Associate certificate with the appropriate endorsement
  • Possess a WA State Health license as it applies to the assignment
  • Able to provide own transportation
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Positive evaluations and recommendations
  • Previous successful public health or clinical experiences
  • Continuing Education/Training: Maintaining current knowledge of PBIS and MTSS
  • Skills and ability to demonstrate a commitment to a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Skills and ability to demonstrate an understanding of equity; specifically focused on the intersection of race, language, gender, and disability.
  • Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred.
  • Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping.
  • Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Individualized Student Support
  • Provides a continuum services of consultation to building teams in order to meet the inclusion needs of students.
  • Provide nursing assessments for students with health concerns
  • Works with students, staff, and parents to assess needs for the creation and development of health plans for students.
Other
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Attends staff and other professional meetings as may be assigned or necessary.
  • Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open communication.
  • Possess knowledge of and adheres to School District Policy and Procedures.
  • Use technology for communication, presentations, trainings, and workshops.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Second language or language acquisition background, preferred. Specifically, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and/or Mixteco
  • Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred.

Benefits for Mount Vernon School employees include eligibility for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan.
