Job description

Skilled Masons Wanted — Brick, Block & Stone | Federal Restoration Work

FMR is hiring experienced masons for federal construction and restoration projects. We do work that lasts: historic restoration, structural repair, and new composite wall assemblies on government installations. If you take pride in the work you do and want to be part of a company that people are proud to work for then we want to meet you.

Some of What You'll Do

  • Lay brick, CMU block, and natural/cut stone to line, level, and plumb
  • Tuckpointing, repointing, and mortar joint restoration on historic and existing structures
  • Cut, shape, and set stone; match existing units on restoration scopes
  • Mix and match mortar to spec — including color-matched mortar for mock-up approval
  • Build and set up mock-up panels for owner/architect approval
  • Read drawings, shop drawings, and Division 04 specifications
  • Set up and work safely
  • Selective demolition and salvage of existing masonry

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years as a mason (brick, block, and stone; restoration experience is a big plus)
  • Can read and work from construction drawings and specs
  • Own hand tools (trowels, levels, jointers, hammers)
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and work outdoors year-round
  • Able to pass a background check for base access on federal installations
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred (we'll get you certified if you're not)

What We Offer

  • $28–$38/hour, based on experience — prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon rates on applicable projects
  • Per diem and paid travel for out-of-town work
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off / paid holidays
  • 401k / retirement
  • Year-round work
  • Pipeline of federal contracts

We promote from within. Our foremen and leads all came up through the trade with us, and that's how we intend to keep filling those roles. If you're solid and you know your craft, there's a path to running work here.

We're looking for masons who can do more than produce — guys who can train the next crew coming up and hold them to a standard. If you've got the skill and the willingness to bring people along, we'll make room for you.
