Job description

Job Description

As a Tax Controversy Manager at EisnerAmper, you will be part of a leading accounting and advisory practice, managing IRS examinations, appeals, penalty abatement, collection matters, tax research, and training.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with IRS examinations and appeals, including responses to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, and preparation of appeals protests.
  • Prepare penalty abatement requests and relief requests for missed elections.
  • Address collection matters including Installment Agreements, Offers in Compromise, and Collection Due Process Hearings.
  • Perform tax research and draft tax memoranda on a broad range of federal tax issues.
  • Contact the IRS Service Center and correspond on various tax account issues.
  • Assist with training programs and thought leadership publications.
  • Mentor staff.
Basic Qualifications
  • JD required.
  • Passed any state bar exam.
  • 5+ years of tax controversy experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • LLM or Master’s in Taxation.
  • Judicial clerkship or other government experience and/or accounting background.
  • CPA.
  • 7+ years of experience in tax controversy.
  • Strong technical tax research skills.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a national tax controversy team.

Location & Salary

Preferred Location: New York.

For Minnesota and Illinois, the expected salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $160,000. Salary may vary in other geographies based on market differences.
