What is contract maintenance?

Contract maintenance refers to the ongoing process of managing, reviewing, and updating contracts to ensure that all terms and conditions are met throughout the contract's lifecycle. Effective contract maintenance helps organizations minimize risks, avoid costly errors, and maintain good relationships with clients, vendors, or partners.

  • Prepare, review, and process contract modifications, amendments, and change orders.

Government & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FARs (as applicable), nuclear regulatory requirements, and customer-specific compliance clauses.
  • Support audits, inspections, and reviews related to government-funded and nuclear-industry contracts.
  • Maintain accurate contract files in accordance with record retention and compliance requirements.

Coordination & Cross-Functional Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, finance, supply chain, quality, and outside legal counsel to ensure contract requirements are understood and executed.
  • Assist project managers with contract interpretation, risk identification, and resolution of contractual issues.

Financial & Performance Oversight

  • Monitor contract performance to identify potential issues related to scope, schedule, cost, or compliance.
  • Assist with contract closeout activities, including final invoicing, deliverable verification, and documentation.

Risk Management & Documentation

  • Working knowledge of multiple contract types, including Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Firm Fixed Price, and Time & Materials.
  • Familiarity with government contracting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting contracts in the nuclear power generation or highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government-funded contract requirements.
  • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), or similar certification.
  • Experience working with ERP or contract management systems.
