IMS/DB2 Mainframe Administrator

Marlboro, Massachusetts

This is a 12+ month contract.

Job Overview:

This resource will insure Operational Stability and continued database support of the above mentioned IMS and DB2 Production and Test environments. Looking for someone with heavy IMS skills

Administer mainframe database systems and supporting products. This contractor will play a critical role in the support of the mainframe databases and vendor supplied software. The contractor will work closely with team members to assure successful application implementations and continued effective use of installed database resources. The contractor will be responsible for providing database support and aid in problem identification and resolution. The specific areas of concentration include IMS and DB2.

Major Duties/responsibilities

Provides complex database support activities

Designs and completes Database Administration Maintenance tasks.

Completes Complex database changes and application implementations.

Understands and works within incident and change management principles and best practices

Analyzes, tests and implements changes and enhancements to database management software and databases.

Mentor Database Administrator's Collaborates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify database relationships and functional requirements; analyzes and resolves issues related to information flow and content.

Performs Database performance and tuning activities

Performs special projects as assigned or directed.

Understands and able to communicate database management software Licensing knowledge.

Provide off-shift support for database support/incidents.

Skills/Knowledge

Mainframe, IMS, DB2

Excellent technical knowledge of database management system functions.

Extensive DBA knowledge and experience in IMS and DB2.

Requires in-depth knowledge of Database Software technologies and best practices.

Advanced in Incident, Problem, and Change management principle and best practices.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5-7yrs of IMS and DB2 Administration.

Minimum 5-7yrs of providing application support.
