Job description

Position: Cognos BI Architect with ThoughtSpot & Visual SDK
Location: Chicago, IL – Onsite from Day 1
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cognos BI Architect with hands-on expertise in ThoughtSpot and Visual SDK to join a dynamic team working on enterprise-level business intelligence and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BI architecture, data visualization, and integrating modern BI platforms into scalable enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust BI architecture solutions using IBM Cognos BI
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions
  • Develop and optimize complex reports, dashboards, and data models in Cognos BI
  • Integrate and implement ThoughtSpot for advanced self-service analytics
  • Leverage ThoughtSpot Visual SDK to embed custom analytics into business applications
  • Collaborate with data engineering and ETL teams to ensure seamless data flow and governance
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior BI developers and analysts
  • Ensure best practices for performance, scalability, and security in all BI solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Cognos BI (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Transformer)
  • Strong experience with ThoughtSpot, including implementation, modeling, and embedding analytics
  • Hands-on experience with ThoughtSpot Visual SDK for custom embedding and API integration
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling techniques
  • Experience with data warehouses, dimensional modeling, and ETL pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in cloud-based BI deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of additional BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum project methodologies
