Job Description
Position Summary:
The Landman will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the company's land assets. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in land acquisition, title examination, lease negotiations, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of land-related matters, and the ability to lead complex land transactions.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Negotiate and prepare leases; identify and procure needed surface contracts include easements, ROWs, surface agreements, water agreements, subsurface easements, etc.
  • Manage obligations, payments and expirations for existing agreements, including extensive lease and contract analysis and application
  • Examine, evaluate and cure title requirements
  • Verify ownership, form units or negotiate PSAs where applicable
  • Negotiate and prepare all necessary agreements for joint development
  • Work with cross-functional team to prepare locations for drilling and maintain acreage after production is established (GIS, regulatory, drilling, completions, subsurface, land administration, production, accounting)
  • Support land reporting on ownership position and competitor activity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Maintain outside operated wells and interest through ownership research and management of inbound proposals
  • Support lease and asset acquisitions through due diligence and integration
  • Calculate working interest, net revenue interest, overriding royalties, non-executive mineral interests, non-participating royalties and payout reversion interests

Qualifications:
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Petroleum Management, Energy Management or Energy Commerce required

Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience as an in-house Landman required
  • Texas asset experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven ability to manage large amounts of information with accuracy and critical attention to detail
  • Willingness to handle multiple projects and obtain results in a performance driven, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Developed skillset in managing complex title issues and providing solutions
  • Strong understanding of Texas legal and regulatory landscape
