Job description

Job title: Inventory Associate

Location: Stennis Space Center, MS Type: Contract | On-site Schedule: A Shift – Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Compensation: Starting at $28.00/hour Assignment Length: 6-Month Contract with Possibility of Extension

Position Overview

We are seeking an Inventory Associate to support warehouse, inventory, and fulfillment operations within a fast-paced aerospace environment. This role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, packaging, and moving materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting production requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in inventory control, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, material handling, and forklift operation. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Fulfillment Operations

  • Receive incoming shipments and unload deliveries from carriers.
  • Inspect incoming materials and shipments according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Perform quality control checks and verify materials against applicable requirements.
  • Document receipts and complete inventory transactions accurately within inventory management systems.
  • Enter and maintain inventory data while ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Package, wrap, and protect materials appropriately throughout the fulfillment and manufacturing process.
  • Sort, stage, and organize inventory to support operational workflows.
  • Label and identify materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform inventory audits and ensure proper storage and inventory control practices.

Material Handling

  • Safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and warehouse equipment, including:
    • Forklifts
    • Electronic Pallet Jacks (EPJs)
    • Reach Trucks
    • Turret Trucks
  • Move materials, parts, and inventory throughout the facility.
  • Support warehouse organization and inventory accuracy initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify operational issues and potential downstream defects.
  • Escalate roadblocks and support root cause investigations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
  • Support efforts to improve inventory accuracy, workflow efficiency, and operational performance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in regular safety training.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all inventory control, quality, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse, fulfillment center, inventory, receiving, or material handling operations.
  • Experience with inventory control, shipping and receiving, and warehouse processes.
  • Previous certified forklift experience required.
  • Ability to safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a technical environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and support inventory requirements from Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and inventory software.
  • Experience performing cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience operating electronic pallet jacks (EPJs), reach trucks, or turret trucks.
