Job description

Clean Harbors Deer Park is searching for a licensed, reliable, and safety-oriented I&E Technician to join our Deer Park, TX incineration team! The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for performing hands-on instrument checks & calibrations, troubleshooting, maintenance & repair of motor circuits and control devices using PLC Ladder Logic and test equipment, along with diagnosing issues with control circuitry and assisting the electrical and maintenance departments with various tasks as needed.
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Pay, schedule, and testing requirements are governed by the union contract.
Required Credentials (per CBA):
A minimum of Texas Journeyman Electrician's License, NCCER Industrial Electrician, Military Equivalent Experience, or a higher license.
Work Schedule (per CBA): Rotating shift schedule consisting of 4 days on / 4 days off (on-call), followed by 4 nights on, 4 days off (off-call). This role supports a 24/7/365 operations, which includes weekends and federal holidays.
Wage (per CBA): $45.23/HR; Additional earnings may include overtime opportunities and other benefits outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation and control circuit malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoots motors, MCC buckets, & associated control circuit issues.
  • Troubleshoots digital and analog circuits and associates devices.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical systems as assigned.
  • Performs instrument bench calibrations on new and existing instruments.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs as required.
  • Installs new system control and power wiring.
  • Installs cabling, power distribution, and motor control centers.
  • Performs electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent - required.
  • A minimum of a Texas Journeyman's Electrician License, NCCER Industrial Electrician Certification, Military Equivalent Experience, or a higher license - required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial environment performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of motor controls, digital and analog circuits, control circuits & instrumentation calibrations – required.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E/Arc Flash - required.
  • Ability to open and understand PLC/DCS Ladder Logic and how it interacts with equipment in the field - required;
  • Experience reading blueprints and instrumentations diagrams - preferred.
  • Knowledge of Data Control Systems (DCS) - required.
  • Experience with 480v and below - required.
  • VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) - Programming knowledge - preferred.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, stooping, bending standing for long periods of time - required.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions - required.
