Database Architect

Location: Austin, TX Duration: 12 Months

TWC is migrating one of its high-usage transactional system from a legacy platform to newer technologies in the cloud and requires a Database Architect with proven experience to:

  • Document the “as is” schemas currently in use at TWC in Informix, and SQL Server databases.
  • Document existing data interfaces in the legacy system.
  • Document existing downstream impacts of the legacy system.
  • Document database process that currently extract the data from the existing system for reporting purposes.
  • Create data models and reverse and forward engineer data models in an AWS SQL Server environment.
  • Define and document the technical architecture of the new transactional system, including the physical components and their functionality.
  • Perform other analysis and documentation tasks as required to facilitate and support this migration project.
  • Provide oversight and design of the migration and conversion of legacy data to the new database.

WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Worker should be qualified to serve as a “Database Architect, Level 1” under the DIR IT Staff Augmentation Contract guidelines. Minimum Requirements:

8 - Data modeling in SQL Server Enterprise Edition

8 - Analyzing and generating technical requirements and design

8 - Creating and maintaining data models

8 - Database development experience utilizing RDBMS

8 - Design a SQL Server database for a high usage/high availability transactional system

8 - Database tuning techniques

8 - Analyzing source databases, source data, source database referential integrity and profiling source data

6 - Experience with Informix DBMS

6 - Experience with MS SQL Server DBMS

2 - Experience with managing RDBMS in AWS

3 - Creating source to target mapping documentation
