Job description

Shamong Manufacturing,AS9100 / ISO9001 certified precision sheet metal fabrication shop is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to manage our coating operations. The shop fabricates sheet metal components for electronics, machinery, defense, and medical manufacturers.

Position Overview

Lead our paint shop operations while providing hands-on industrial painting expertise.  This role combines technical painting skills with shop management responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving defense industry clients.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Painting:

  • Oversee the preparation and masking of parts for industrial coating applications
  • Mix paints and coatings to precise specifications
  • Apply coatings with proper texture and finish quality
  • Perform wet and dry film thickness testing to ensure specification compliance
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective measures
  • Coordinate with production scheduling and quality assurance
  • Assist and train paint shop staff in technique and production
  • Manage paint and supply inventory
  • Maintain quality standards and documentation for defense contract compliance
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial painting experience in a paint shop
  • Proficiency with surface preparation standards
  • Experience with wet/dry film thickness measurement tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of spray booth operations and paint mixing procedures
  • Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in an ITAR-regulated facility (Must be U.S. persons i.e. U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) )
  • Background check
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards

  • Familiarity with defense contractor quality requirements
  • Certification in coating inspection or application
