Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring vent, trach, and G-tube experience along with an active IL RN license in hand.

Details
  • Pediatric acute care unit in a children's hospital with 39 beds serving all specialties
  • Patients range from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% having some form of technology dependence
  • Unit cares for chronically ill children with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator needs; no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:3-4
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
  • Open to block scheduling
  • Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
  • BLS and PALS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • 1:4 patient ratio experience required
  • Meditech charting experience required
  • Experience with ventilator, tracheostomy, and G-tube care required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Flu vaccine required, medical and religious exemptions accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide direct care to pediatric patients with chronic illness, including ventilator, tracheostomy, and gastric tube management
  • Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
  • Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Previous perm staff members at this facility or its affiliated clinics will not be considered
  • All requested time off must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date, with no additions once the contract has started
