Project Sales Lead - Commercial Flooring
Position Overview
Lead and grow commercial flooring project sales by developing client relationships, producing accurate estimates and proposals, and coordinating with operations to ensure profitable project delivery. This role combines sales leadership with project and estimating expertise to secure new work, manage the bid-to-install lifecycle, and drive repeat business in commercial markets.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue and margin targets for commercial flooring projects.
  • Qualify leads, build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, architects, facility managers, and owners.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, budgets, and competitive proposals; research material and labor costs to ensure profitability.
  • Lead the bid process, negotiate contracts, and secure purchase orders while protecting company margins and terms.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to evaluate scope, site conditions, and installation logistics.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, operations, and installers to ensure smooth project handover and execution.
  • Manage the sales pipeline and forecast; update CRM with opportunities, proposals, and client communications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain specifications, samples, and pricing; maintain manufacturer relationships and installer certifications.
  • Provide input to project scheduling and resource planning to meet client timelines and contractual obligations.
  • Troubleshoot project issues and act as client advocate to resolve scope, quality, or timing disputes.
  • Monitor project costs and change orders; prepare and present change order proposals and progress reports.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to generate new business and strengthen brand presence.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience in commercial flooring or related construction product sales, with a proven record of closing project-based work.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including coordinating multi-trade projects and managing project handovers.
  • Strong estimating skills with experience preparing takeoffs, material and labor costing, and competitive proposals.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of commercial flooring systems (carpet tile, LVT, sheet vinyl, rubber, resilient floors, adhesives) and installation methods.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with takeoff tools is a plus.
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites and client meetings as required.
  • Preferred: industry certifications (e.g., Manufacturer certification, CSI credentials) and knowledge of flooring-related safety and compliance standards.
