Position Description:
Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Analyzes complex business problems and delivers creative and efficient solutions. Applies standard engineering methodologies including object-oriented design, coding standards, RESTful integration, common design patterns, secure application development, and comprehensive test coverage to deliver robust, high-quality systems. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information System Security, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and implementing highly scalable, secure, and Cloud ready enterprise Web applications in the financial services domain.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information System Security, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and implementing highly scalable, secure, and Cloud ready enterprise Web applications in the financial services domain.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") analyzing the integration of content management practices using SDL Tridion and SOAP/REST Web services for Web-based transaction processing applications; and analyzing Web services request/response schema structure using XMLSpy.
  • DE designing and developing customer facing enterprise Web applications using Java/J2EE server-side technologies (Spring, Spring-Boot, Struts, Servlets, and JSP), Web security technologies (OAuth and SAML), Apache Camel, and SOAP/RESTful Web services within a financial services industry.
  • DE designing and developing responsive Web application components and modules, using client-side technologies -- Angular, HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, Node-JS; and creating client-side code automated unit tests, using Karma and Jasmine.
  • DE performing Java/J2EE application development according to Test Driven and Behavioral Driven Development methodologies (TDD and BDD), using Junit and Power Mockito frameworks; deploying Web applications using WebSphere and Tomcat servers within Unix and Windows environments; and debugging and developing applications using software development tools/editors -- Eclipse, Spring Tool Suite, and WebStorm.
