Position Overview

The Business Affairs Executive plays a critical role in negotiating, reviewing, and managing deals on behalf of Gersh clients. This individual ensures that all agreements align with clients' strategic interests while mitigating legal and financial risk. The role requires a strong understanding of entertainment industry contracts, union regulations, and evolving market trends across film, television, digital media, and branded partnerships.

Duties

  • Review and negotiate talent agreements across film, television, streaming, digital, endorsements, and licensing.
  • Review, draft, and revise contracts including deal memos, short-form and long-form agreements, and amendments.
  • Collaborate closely with agents, managers, legal counsel, and clients to structure deals that maximize value.
  • Provide strategic guidance on compensation, deal terms, and rights ownership (e.g., backend participation, exclusivity, IP rights).
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with guild and union rules (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, etc.).
  • Identify and mitigate legal, financial, and reputational risks within agreements.
  • Manage contract lifecycle, including execution, tracking deliverables, and ensuring compliance.
  • Stay informed on market trends, compensation benchmarks, and emerging deal structures.

 

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active NY or CA bar admission required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in business affairs, entertainment law, or transactional legal role.
  • Foundational knowledge of entertainment contracts and industry practices.
  • Strong legal drafting, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of discretion in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a talent agency, entertainment law firm, studio, production company or branding agency.
  • Exposure to digital media, influencer/brand partnership, appearance, film, television, and NDA agreements.
  • Familiarity with guild and union agreements and regulations.

Compensation

$100-125K
